What Did You Just Call Me ?!?

Apparently I live in denial. My rose colored glasses are more like deep magenta. I walk around thinking things are one way – while they are just the opposite.

Here’s a prime example. I sat behind this handsome guy in my economics class this week. In addition to being handsome this brother is fine. Yes, I did say brother….they are far and few between on Oh-Ess-You’s campus, especially ones with a little swagger. This brother had that swagger – you know personable and confident, but not brash. Anywhoo, after class I asked him a question. He answered, and I said, “Thank you.” To my horror, this man said, “You’re welcome, ma’am.”

I was done for!

I don’t even remember walking out of the classroom. I shook my head and laughed to myself. Yep! This is what it’s come to. He looks like he may be in his 30’s or something. Definitely not his 20’s, and he called me ma’am! Don’t get me wrong – I don’t think I look like a teenager, or a twenty year old, but damn it…..I don’t look like I’m 40!

What makes it even worse is that I thought I looked real cute that evening. I’m sure I had that “I think I got it goin’ on” look on my face. Low and behold, the handsome, fine, swagger havin’ brother broke it down for me in three words…..You’re welcome ma’am.

Oooooh. That hurts.

I've gotten the "does he work here or what" look at school (and elsewhere) often enough. Some have even commented to that effect.

It's something when the youngsters aren't pushing up on you, but their parents are! That one kinda happened at the beginning of the semester.

Anyway, shake it off. He probably erred on the side of caution. Once you show you don't wanna be his "ma'am" I'm sure he'll change his tune.

Btw, I like Mahogany's comeback.

This is funny and disturbing at the same time! But do tell him you had a laugh over it the next time you see him.
